PURIFICATION OF 60% OF OUR ANNUAL WATER CONSUMPTION

During these periods of drought in France, our wastewater treatment and recycling station was highlighted in a report by France 3 Brittany (a French television channel) on saving water.

Thanks to our station located in Lamballe (Brittany, France), we purify 60% of our annual water consumption. Thanks to several processes (degreasing, ultrafiltration, reverse osmosis), we treat the wastewater from our workshops and recover very good quality water that we can reuse. We thus save 350,000m3 of drinking water per year.

Currently, this recycled water is not drinking water in the regulatory sense since it does not come from the natural environment. To go further, the objective is to experiment and prove that we can reuse this water for, for example, pre-washing operations in our casing workshop. These water savings are thus beneficial both for the environment and for the cooperative.

This initiative initiated by our cooperative is part of a broader approach led by the ABEA, the Agro Breton network which mobilizes many actors in the Breton agri-food industry.
