Topaz, mineral protection for porous surfaces
THE CONCEPT
Protect livestock buildings and make washing easier
Topaz is a non-film-forming mineral treatment designed to consolidate and waterproof porous mineral surfaces such as concrete, brick and stone. Based on silica mineralisation, the solution penetrates the material and hardens it from within. By limiting the absorption of water, manure and dirt, Topaz helps preserve building surfaces while making washing faster and easier.
MAIN TECHNICAL CHARACTERISTICS
TECHNOLOGY
Topaz penetrates porous materials by capillary action and reacts inside the substrate. Unlike a surface coating, it does not create a film: the treatment becomes part of the material while allowing it to remain breathable. The mineralisation reaction is designed to provide long-lasting protection against water infiltration, abrasion and aggressive substances encountered in livestock buildings.
APPLICATION
Topaz is applied to clean and dry surfaces using an electric sprayer. Two coats are recommended, with 30 minutes to 2 hours between applications. One litre covers approximately 5 m² for the complete two-coat treatment. For a 160-place room, application takes around 30 minutes per coat.
SUITABLE FOR LIVESTOCK BUILDINGS
The solution has been developed specifically for pig-farming conditions and can be applied to porous concrete, brick and stone surfaces. Its water- and silica-based mineral formulation contains no petrochemical coating and is designed to be safe for animals once correctly applied.
COMPETITIVE ADVANTAGES
- Up to 22% less washing time in Cooperl farm trials.
- Up to 28% less washing water consumption.
- Less slurry to manage, as less washing water enters the manure system.
- More durable concrete surfaces, with reduced water penetration and erosion.
- Long-lasting treatment: one two-coat application is designed to protect the substrate throughout its service life.
- Animal-friendly mineral formulation based on water and silica.
For a reference 300-sow Cooperl farm, trial results were estimated to represent approximately 30 hours of washing time and 30 m³ of water saved per year.
TESTED UNDER FARM CONDITIONS
Topaz was tested in a 20-year-old finishing building over several production cycles. Compared with untreated rooms, the treated surfaces required less washing time and less water, while no change in animal behaviour was observed during the trials.
FOR MORE INFORMATION
Topaz is supplied in 20-litre containers, covering approximately 100 m² with two coats. Our teams can advise you on surface preparation, product quantity and the application protocol for your building.
